Greg Egan (natural August 20, 1961) is an Australian (Perth-based) programmer & science fiction author. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree within Maths from either the University of Western Australia.

Egan specialises inside hard science fiction stories with mathematical and quantum ontology themes, including the nature and severity of consciousness.
